4 years of inflation is not enough to explain $50k mid size trucks!

Even at $45K, a loaded leather trimmed Lariat didn’t feel Luxury to me.

It’s not just four years...
It’s also the first MY of the ranger T6 in the US

The old American Ranger had been in the market for 14 years when it got discontinued; it was a very old platform (even older than the current one), so naturally it was cheap in the last years.

lets not fool ourselves though, there is a strong price hike here. its more truck, but its a lot more money. Reality is that midsized trucks are being bought as half tons from about a decade ago. you know

“I need/want a truck but I don’t...you know NEED a truck.”

Wow $400/month on a fucking lease! With an obscene amount down, and barely any miles.

Well it’s more than 4 years. A base super cab for the previous Ranger had an MSRP of ~ $15,000, which would be about $23,500 in today’s money. The current base R anger starts at $24,300 for a vehicle that generally speaking is significantly better. Granted the top end price is much higher, but you are getting a lot of things you simply couldn’t get with the old Ranger. It’s not really fair to compare things you don’t need to buy. The only real criticism you can make is that it’s not available as a single cab.

This is a replacement for their previous midsize truck not for the small one. When they stopped selling the Sport Trac in 2010 it was around $35k for the Limited trim. With inflation that’s around $41k so this new Sport Trac or Ranger or whatever you want to call it   is in the ballpark. Dealers near me are offering $2-3k off MSRP meaning you can get a decently equipped  XLT 4x4 for around $35k. Anyway fuck this Sport Trac if it’s going to cost this much at least give us the Raptor in the US what the hell Ford?

I find it kind of hilarious that you can get a single cab on most of the full size trucks but none of the midsize ones. Also I’ve spent a lot of time in the old Ranger single cab. It’s a painful place to be if you are 5’10” or taller. I really don’t get why people are clamoring for it back.
